I can't sleep

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

It's currently 3:45 am, and I've been up for an hour and a half on my computer because for some reason my body thinks it should be awake right now. Probably preparing itself for those long sleepless newborn nights. Anyway, it sucks, but at least I've been doing something totally productive-searching the web for my next new sewing projects! Look what I found:

This darling newborn dress by Made By Rae. I may or may not be using these for Evelyn & Georgia's coming home outfits from the hospital. With Penelope I used a onesie and a tutu, so I was thinking of doing the same type of thing with the twins, but maybe doing itty bitty pettiskirts instead, I don't know. I could have all my girls in matching petti's, probably pink. I'm hoping for some Valentines Day babies, but we'll see how it goes.

Made by Rae also has an awesome Ruffled Shirt Tutorial on Sew Momma Sew that I need to make myself for after I have the babies. It looks like it would be a semi flattering post-partum shirt, depending on how ridiculously huge my belly is right after I have the girls. Also this ruffle skirt (with an elastic waist of course) would be super cute with it too.

I found this amazing Valentines Sweatshirt on Etsy, but I don't have $190 to spend on a hoodie, so I think I might try and make one for myself. After searching all over for a plain bubblegum pink hoodie with no luck, I found this tutorial to make my own zip hoodie. It would be awesome to make little hoodies for my girls to wear on Valentines Day, dah!

Look at this fabulous scarf too! I'm going to learn how to crotchet tomorrow and make my own!

Do any of you have some good sewing projects you are wanting to start? We should have a sewing bee one night to get all all projects done!

Family Dinner Night

Monday, January 11, 2010

Last night we had my parents over for dinner. For some reason, I had an urge to try something new and fabulous, so I broke out my signed Pioneer Woman Cookbook and chose 3 things I've never made before. The Perfect Pot Roast, Rosemary Butter Dinner Rolls, and Chocolate Sheet Cake. I cooked and cooked all day long (which tired me out completely) but in the end it was all worth it because I found the perfect menu for Family Dinner Night for all of you. Whenever you need a good, comforting, home cooked meal to feed a bunch of people-make all of this. You need to start early in the day, though-I started cooking about 11:30 and we ended up eating around 5:00 so plan ahead! And be forewarned-the sheet cake makes a TON (which I don't mind because me an my kids will be having chocolate cake for breakfast the rest of this week. Mom is great. Gives us Chocolate Cake!)

Here are the recipe cards :

Oh, and there is a new giveaway this week on the Handmade Parade Blog for a new Millie Headband! Head on over to enter to win!

Cooking in 2010

Sunday, January 10, 2010

With a whole week full of digital scrapbooking posts last week, it's time to transition into one of my favorite topics-cooking. I am making the transition smooth by combining the two-today I will share a couple of recipes with you, as well as some sweet downloads to print! Hooray!

I couldn't decide what to get my sister for her wedding, and now I've decided to make her an on-going present that she can use everyday of her life-a cookbook! I'm going to compile all my favorite and most-used recipes together and send her an album and recipe cards in the mail every week so she can have them handy whenever she needs! You can follow along and make one too!

The first recipe I'm going to share is my Pizza Dough and Pizza Sauce Recipes. These are easy peasy lemon squeezy, and I made them both last night for Saturday Pizza Night we are starting at our house (I took that brilliant idea from the enchanting Nie Nie). We always make a cheese pizza for the kids with just sauce, mozzarella, & parmesan cheeses, and we always have a margherita pizza with no sauce-just olive oil, crushed garlic, mozzarella, tomatoes & fresh basil, but we ended the night with a meat lovers (Braden's favorite). We used the pizza sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, pepperoni, bacon, & breakfast sausage and holy guacamole it was delicious. And I'll share my mom's guacamole recipe a different day.

Anyway, the best thing about pizza night is that you have literally endless possibilities of the kinds of pizzas you can make, if you just start with the staple of Pizza Dough & Pizza Sauce. The pizza dough recipe is from the famous Chris Bianco of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, which was featured in Martha Stewart Magazine last summer. Follow this link and this link and this link to get some good ideas of some unique and delicious looking pizzas to try out! And the sauce recipe is from Tyler Florence on the Food Network website- super easy and it makes a ton so you will have enough for about a month's worth of Saturday Pizza Nights.

Ok download time! I love how you can mix cooking with digital scrapbooking/design to make the experience that much more pleasant. You know what else would make it more pleasant? If you cooked pizzas wearing this:

Sorry, I get distracted too easily. Here are your downloads!

New Years Resolutions- Part 3

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

I have a confession to make. I am TERRIBLE at remembering people's birthdays and sending out cards. I'm also terrible at being prepared for holidays. Everything seems to creep up on me and before you know it, it's Christmas and I haven't sent out Christmas cards. I have vowed to be better at this in 2010. I have all our family's birthdays on the calendar, and I'm trying to plan ahead for the coming holidays. After hearing some grief about not sending out Christmas cards, I put together these New Years cards to start the year off right. And I know it's the 6th, but I read that it's appropriate to send out New Years cards until the 15th-so I'm still good.

I'm ordering these up today, and should hopefully send them out by next Monday. If you have moved or think I might not have your address, and you want me to send you fabulous things this year, email me your address at rosemaryw@me.com!
