Digi Goodness for the Fourth

Monday, June 27, 2011

Looks like the ladies from House of 3 are at it again on their personal blogs sharing a 4tho of July bonanza!

Rhonna Farrer has her 4th of July Kit now for sale- I printed out the mini banners today and am making family cards to ship out tomorrow!

Janet Hopkins also has a digital kit for some gorgeous fancy banners for the 4th

I plan to make this darling centerpiece- how fun with a metal pail!

And Heidi Swapp has a printable kit on the Jessica Sprauge site to celebrate the 4th!

I love how each designer's kit is so unique and all in their own style- almost makes me ok with House of 3 breaking up (almost).

Grab your favorite, print out and spread magic around your house.

Any other takers?

I had such a great response to my last Pinterest shout out, I want to offer it up again! Does anyone else want a Pinterest invite to start their very own Pinterest account? It will suck your life away quicker than Twilight, but it's so freaking worth it (also like Twilight. The book NOT THE MOVIE)

Here is some of my new faves from my Pinterest

What I'm made of

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Do you know the feeling of music running through you? Like there are some songs that the guitar strums literally start to flow through your veins and you close your eyes and you can feel the singer's voice penetrate your body. Do you ever get that feeling? I get it All. The. Time. I think that's why I became a dancer. I had no other choice- some songs just force me to move and carve out the song with my body.

I don't think I've ever been the most talented dancer, a lot of people have higher kicks, can do more turns, have better technique. Plenty of people can do amazing things with their strength and control and have trained for years perfecting that. I am not one of those people.

But I don't think you'll find anyone who loves it the way I do. Movement and music are the fabric of my soul and I don't think I'll ever escape it. Sometimes I close my eyes and I can envision myself on a stage with the lights shining on my face and I start to dance in my humble little living room, letting all that I am come spewing out and when I'm done I am in tears without really knowing why.

I'm sure my neighbors think I'm Looney Tunes.

Anyway, this is the song that forced me to dance the way I've always done. Give it a listen-it's nothing spectacular, nothing you'd hear on the radio, nothing popular; but I think it was written just for me.

Listen to it really loud, and I bet you'll see what I mean.

Say Hello To Eryn!

Monday, June 20, 2011

I've talked a lot about my sister Eryn-she is my other half to Heirloom Photography and my personal family photographer. She is the sweetest and we love her. Now she has started her very own blog for her Wedding Photography and it is gonna be wonderful. Check it out- she's going to be sharing lots of handmade DIY wedding ideas and tutorials in addition to showcasing her amazing photography.

Creative Hurricane

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

That's what I've been in today. It's one of those not-wearing-a-bra-spandex-shorts-haven't-brushed-my-teeth-or-hair-children-could-be-setting-my-house-on-fire-but-i-wouldn't-notice kind of a day.

I'm designing my sister in laws baby shower invites, an etsy shop banner, AND updating our Heirloom Photography website. Here's a sneak peek of the header:

I'll be sharing the other projects I've been working on later in the week but for now I have to sign off before my creativity wanes and I hit a creative block

My Happy Place.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

I need a Happy Place moment. Irritation, fury, stress, & worry reared their ugly heads and now I'm listening to my Beethoven Pandora station to clear out all the crap that's been bothering me. This may seem childish but when I've had too much, I close my eyes and dream of a happy beautiful place I'd like to run to, to escape all the troubles of the real world. My Happy Place looks a little like this

Ahhhh. Now don't we all feel better? What does your happy place look like?

Who wants a Pinterest invite?

Monday, June 13, 2011

I've been asked by a couple of people that have been waiting for Pinterest invites FOREVER to send them a personal invite- and I have about 10 left. If you want to get in on the Pinterest action, leave me a comment and I'll email you an invite so you can start putting together fantastic inspiration boards for yourself! Here are some of my recently collected ideas (out of my ridiculous over 2200 pins)

Engagement Photos: Shelby & Chad

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Shelby is my best friend Stacy's little sister. I have basically seen Shelby grow up and it is blowing my mind that she is getting married! Her fiance Chad is the nicest teddy bear of a guy; and they make such a sweet couple, don't you think? Their wedding is in April of 2012 and I am completely honored to be their photographer. We went out to Freestone Park, which is near the home Shelby grew up and snapped some photos for their Engagement.

Last night's Meet 'n' Greet was a smashing success! We had so much fun and can't wait for the next on July 22nd!

Now I'm off to edit a TON of photos- I have engagements and hello there! house photos to do that I will be sharing this week!

Giddy & Exhausted

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

I've been going full throttle prepping for the hello there! house Meet 'n' Greet this Friday at Urban Picnic. If you don't know (which is unlikely because I've been spewing hype about this event for two weeks straight) we are having a mini event to tell you all about the classes at the hello there! house home & garden event in October. So.... we're having an event to talk about an event. Make sense? No? Didn't think so. Did I mention there will be cupcakes in jars? Ok so you're on board now? Great.

Anywhoo, I have worked really really REALLY hard on putting this fun thing together for Friday and I am totally stoked to share all this hard work with everyone. I just put the finishing lollies on my lolli board inspired by this:

Looks amazing- but so so much work. Took FOR-EV-ERRRRR.

Just filled up all 25 project boxes today, and tomorrow I have to finish up the swag bags and make those cupcake jars I mentioned above inspired by this:

Now I must go to bed before my eyes burn out of my skull but I'll leave with a "pretty please with a cherry on top come to our event on friday". Tickets are only $10 and you get dinner AND you'll make some darling holiday crafts to take home and decorate your house. Plus, you'll get to hang out with me! Yee-haw!

If that doesn't make you want to come, then I just don't know.

Lovely Love Shoots: Eryn & Taylor

Monday, June 6, 2011

My little sister Eryn has this boyfriend, Taylor. I just love Taylor- he's funny, quiet, super sweet and has been a great yin to Eryn's yang for the past 5 years. Now he's off to Baltimore, Maryland to serve a mission for his church and although we are all sad to see him go, we are excited for him to go on this big adventure. I went out with them last week to snap a few last photos of them before he leaves.

When I was a little younger than Eryn my boyfriend at the time enlisted into the military and it was really hard on me, so I know exactly how Eryn feels about Taylor leaving. It's a bummer to see Eryn go through the same feelings of sadness and unknowing and loneliness but I know that everything happens for a reason and that everything is going to turn out exactly the way it is supposed to in the end. I think they make a darling couple and Taylor fits into our family like a puzzle piece so I wish him the very best on his journey and can't wait to see him again.

Tooth Fairy Fun

Friday, June 3, 2011

Well, the Tooth Fairy finally came and Olivia lucked out and got $5 (really from Grandma who thinks that the tooth fairy is a really big deal). Braden installed the Tooth Fairy door I painted- red since the kids all share a room.

I quickly sewed together a tooth fairy pillow to stash her tooth in and we even sprinkled glitter all over the floor and Olivia's pillow to show that the Tooth Fairy had indeed come.

I think all in all the first tooth fairy visit was a smashing success!
