Inspiration Monday: Eat Drink Chic

Monday, March 7, 2011

Ok, so this week is another whirlwind one. I have a little girls wedding dress to make, curtains to sew, thank you notes to design and on top of all that- the Twins are turning ONE on the 11th & 12th! Ay chihuaua, now I have to bust out an amazing party to boot. Sooooo, I turned to one of my favorite blogs for inspiration- Eat Drink Chic

This lady is so talented and I have loved her Ice Cream Parlour idea for so long. I decided to throw the twins an Ice Cream Social First Birthday Party for our family (it's at my house which is bite-sized so we had to limit the guest list to just fam. I want a bigger house.)

These are the invites I sent out (today- I'm the WORST procrastinator) and I have all kinds of details to share and a tutorial tomorrow! Come back to see all the pretties!

Carnival Party Pt. 2

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

We had a TON of sweet treats at Kathie's Party (seriously half the people in our family got so so sick from sugar overdose) from Rice Krispies to Rainbow layered Jello-O. It was so fun to try out a bunch of new tricks and recipes, especially the huge 6 layer Rainbow Birthday Cake!

Tomorrow we'll have part 3 with recipes and tutorials how to make these fab treats

Pie Party Pie Crust

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Here's the final piece to our pie puzzle- the perfect pie crust! It's an all butter crust because shortening make me gag. You really can't beat the flavor of real butter either and Paula Deen prays to it, so I'm all for it! Smitten Kitchen yet again saves the day with her Pie Crust 102 session, read it for visual directions of this recipe:

This recipe makes 2 crusts, so one double crust pie or 2 single crust pies. If you want to make mini pies, roll out small sized circles and place in a well buttered muffin pan, then fill with your favorite pie fillings! I'm going to make some mini pies for the party and cut out little crust shapes with a mini cookie cutter like this:

More Recipes for the Pie Party

Pie Party Recipes

I have a lot of people letting me know they will be out of town on Wednesday and can't make it to the Pie Baking Party, so I'm going to put up the recipes in advance so everyone can bake a long, even if you are in a different state (shout out to Aunt Jenny! Love ya!)

First up is our Autumn Apple Pie Recipe. (FYI I'll share the Pie Crust Recipe last-I'm trying to fine tune a recipe today)

This one is via Smitten Kitchen (who I adore). And for more mouth watering pie recipes visit The Pioneer Woman- it's Pie Week! Woot Woot!

Let's make some Pies Together!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I snagged this idea from the brilliant Jaimee Rose. I figured even if you are not hosting Thanksgiving this year, everyone needs to bring a dessert so why not come together a bake all our holiday pies together?

Here's how it works:

I will have 4 different recipes for Thanksgiving pies printed out so you can take them home and use them for forever
1) Brown Sugar Pumpkin Pie
2) Autumn Apple Pie
3) Kentucky Derby Pie (chocolate & pecans)
4) and a Pumpkin Cheesecake

You pick whichever pie you want to make (or you can pick as many as you want-make all 4 if you're up to it!) and you bring the following ingredients for each pie:
1) Brown Sugar Pumpkin Pie- one 15oz can of pumpkin puree & one pint of heavy whipping cream

2) Autumn Apple Pie- 3 medium Granny Smith apples and 4 large Macintosh apples (if you can't find Macs, just go all Grannys)

3) Kentucky Derby Pie- 2 cups of pecan halves, a bottle of corn syrup, & a bag of milk chocolate chips

4) Pumpkin Cheesecake- one 15 oz cans of pumpkin, three 8 oz. packages of cream cheese room temperature, & small container of sour cream

In addition to your ingredients, please bring pie pans, a stick of butter, & a mixing bowl! I will supply everything else you will need & we'll of course have drinks & snacks.

Please RSVP to me by Monday, November 22nd so I can make sure I have enough of the other ingredients on Tuesday! This will be so much fun I can't wait! Just leave a comment here or text me at (480) 316-0098 and let me know if you'll be here to bake your heart out!

Super Secret Project #2 Reveal-Dad's 50th Birthday Party

Monday, November 8, 2010

So, the next super top secret project I've been working on was my dad's 50th birthday surprise party. We managed to keep it a secret the whole time and man was he surprised to find so many people that traveled to Mesa for his birthday. We all had a great time, and we worked really really hard to put it together, so here are some highlights of the party:

We set up a photo area for people to group up and take photos; complete with photo props such as frames, balloons, and mustaches & spectacles on sticks. The kids loved them.

In the treat gazebo we had a candy buffet, a popcorn machine, chocolate covered pretzels & bagged smores with marshmalllow roasting sticks. We had a fire pit set up so people could roast the marshmallows and make their own smores.

We had tables under Itlaian lights, big 3 foot red balloon, and lots and lots of regular 12" balloons.

There were all kinds of delicious food like cowboy stew, green chili, and bean & cheese burritos. I made 3 kinds of cookies, and Kathie made her famous sugar cookies shaped like mushrooms & acorns. I also made 3 kinds of cupcakes & a chocolate birthday cake.

We all had the most amazing time and it will be such a fun memory that we got to share with our family.

Halloween Treats with Bakerella

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Bakerella is the go-to-girl for cute themed treats, and her cake pops will definitely be making a debut at my Pumpkin Party. You all know how I feel about boxed cake mix, can frosting, and candy melts though, so I'll be using this recipe for vanilla cake and this recipe for frosting and adding orange food color to white chocolate. They may not look as cute as Bakerella's, but they will probably taste amazing. But, feel free to use the store-bought stuff to save time!

Pumpkin Party Inspiration

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I've been scouring my favorite blogs to find fun party ideas to share with everyone, and boy do I have some doozies.

First up, from the treat buffet Goddess, Amy Atlas' blog a fun new take on Halloween colors- a Pink-O-Ween Party by Pizzarie

Then I found these super sweet Spooky Halloween Lollies from last year's House of 3 goodies. Directions are here on their blog

Also on the House Blog are these cute treat jar labels printables that you can download from House of 3 and stick on the candies.

I'm going to stick with a traditional black and orange theme this year, but if you wanted to snag the funky Halloween color idea, here's a great tutorial how to change up the colors on the treat labels to match the Pink-O-Ween stuff. Love.

Plan a Party with Me-Pumpkin Party!

Monday, October 18, 2010

We decided that we are going to throw our 1st annual Pumpkin Party at our house the Thursday before Halloween. I think it would be fun if I shared all my party planning ideas, inspirations, recipes, and decor so we can all party it up together! Then at the end we can all post our pictures of our fun parties-what could be more fun than a massive blog party?

To kick it off, I made up these invitations using my sillouette I made last year, this House of 3 phantom background kit, and these fonts from 2peas & House of 3. Olivia helped with the glittering!

You can use these for your own invitations, I will be using them as treat labels.

My party will include a pumpkin carving contest, a treat buffet, BYO pumpkins & carving tools, and some pumpkin turkey chili & pumpkin rolls. More party details to come!
