Presenting our New Master Bathroom

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

It's finally done! Actually, I still need to go buy some light grey towels today, but everything else is completed.

Remember the before? Drab, dreary, blandly beige. Blegh.

Now look how fabulous!

Seriously, the pictures don't even do it justice. You must come see it in person. I just love it.

The Run-Down:

First we took off all the old baseboards and everything off the walls and the doors and drawers off the cabinets. Then he installed the beadboard, new thick baseboards, and chair rail on top of the beadboard. He encased the window in trim then sprayed the beadboard, baseboards, & cabinets with the white paint. After that dried we taped all that white stuff off and rolled out the grey paint with a roller (when I say we I do mean we. I totally helped through this whole process. Aren't you proud?) and he sprayed the cabinet doors & drawers in the garage. We put everything back in its place, added the new hardware (found at Hobby Lobby), and I got the decor pieces from Ikea.

And here's my wall art I ordered in the Ikea frame I love so much. I decided to keep it black to mix up the colors in the bathroom. It's a nice mix of white, grey, brown & black that keeps it un-matchy.

All in all, it was a pretty fast and inexpensive job and it really makes a HUGE difference. I never want to leave my bathroom now.

Trimming the Tree and Decking the Halls

Friday, December 3, 2010

We spent all day yesterday getting our house fancied up for the Holidays. I bought so many gorgeous things at Scrapbooks ETC from some of my favorite Bloggers new lines like Dear Lizzy's Christmas

I think I'm going to try and do a Daily December Scrapbook since I was a total loser and peetered out on my 365 album. I suck.

I also bought some of Margie's Tinsel & Twig snowflake ornaments and I am in LOVE with them. So freakin cute.

And look at her CHA booth! It's decorated so cute! I want to snatch all those ideas and use them in my house!

Also, I must share with you this discovery courtesy of Rhonna:
Persnickety Prints!

Persnickity Prints. They are MAGICIANS people. I ordered these prints in Metallic Ink and they are seriously hands down the best quality prints I ever gotten. And, they shipped to me in 3 days and it was only $5 shipping. Amazing. My house is going to be swarming with gorgeous metallic prints. Come over and see!

Happy 1st Day of December!

Christmas Decorating

Sunday, November 28, 2010

It's that magical time of the year when all the fun Christmas decorations and lights go up, and I feel so happy my head is spinning. Braden gets really into it too, he's decided on a red & gold theme for out front (what a fruitcake, right?) so he's happily plotting away his light spectacle while I focus on the inside of out house. I made this print for our bookcases inside. I love it because you an keep using it after Christmas, but it's perfect for our Cupcake Tower that will be filled daily for any guests that stop by

Made using the House of 3 Christmas Goodies Brush Set

I've also made another hanging word garland, cut by hand

Also, Jaimee Rose has challenged me to knock off this Pottery Barn loveliness so I'm getting supplies today and giving it a whirl!

Saying Goodbye to Summer

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

It's the last day of August and I am sooooooo ready for Fall to be here! Even though it's a zillion degrees here in the AZ, I'm going to pretend it's not and start decorating, dressing, and cooking for fall STAT.

I'm loving the schoolhouse theme right now since we're doing homeschool preschool with the kids and of course Pottery Barn Kids has awesome ideas to snatch (as always). I need to make these colored pencil wall art pieces this week-so easy & cheap! And that globe! Here's one I found on Ebay-only $8! That is some cheap decor!

As far as outfits go equestrian chic, deep plums, sequins, and statement necklaces are all calling my name. Also, I cannot WAIT to try out the new tights with shorts trend. Such a nice transition for the hot fall days and cooler nights here.

Aren't you wanting to cook some fall infused recipes? Like pumpkin swirl brownies? AAAAhhh!

or Beer Braised Beef with Onions from P Dubs

Or Gingerbread Apple Upside Down Cake from Smitten Kitchen (again. I'm obsessed)

Now I'm off to dream of more fun fall things to make, do, wear, and eat. What are the things you are most excited for about Fall?

New Spring Junque Digital Kits from House of 3

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

How do you like the Easter blog background & banner? All made possible by the new Spring Junque Border Kit from House of 3! I love all their new Spring Stuff, but I had to scoop up my favorites-the Border Kit, the Spring Junque Banner Kit (only $2!) and the Spring Junque Round Seals.

I printed out the banners on Manila File Folders and ran through a sewing machine with some ric rac to make a quick "bunting" banner for my house. I also cut out all the round seals and hung them from my chandelier for some unique dot garlands.

I also love the mini banners that came with the Border Kit, so I'm going cut those out and hang around the house somewhere.

Then I used the Spring Banner Kit from last year and printed it out with the Easter Backgrounds from last year, glued onto chipboard and hung vertically from a black ribbon. I added some chandelier sticky crystals and voila! a fab new piece of home decor to coordinate with my House of 3 Wall Vinyls.

There are soooooo many other sweet craft ideas to celebrate both Easter & Spring. Rhonna posted a little tutorial yesterday about how to make these darling Easter picks- I need to make some for my Peeps topped cupcakes I am having at our Easter Brunch.

Ooh and check out this fab album that Janet made with the new Spring junque stuff. She used the same techniques from this House of 3 Live Webshow for the Birthday Album. I must copy.

Speaking of the Live Webshows, there's one tonight at 7:00 showcasing all this amazing new stuff. Don't miss it-they usually have a giveaway for those watching live!

More Decor

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Did you all watch the House of 3 webshow last night? It was awesome, there were so many great ideas on there. My favorite project though, was this Valentines Banner Kit. It's $2, which is cheaper than your Starbucks so buy it today and make this for crying out loud.

I cut one up, added some paper doilies and voila! Fabulous banner to coordinate with my tissue paper pom poms. I even added some mini pom poms and crepe paper ruffles to the mix cuz I couldn't resist. Once I finished, I decided to take it a step further and cut out some more embellishments using some other House of 3 Valentines Kits (I used the Vintage Valentines Text Garlands Kit, the Valentines Doily Kit, and some of the Love Twenty Ten Dingbat Fonts). This would have been MUCH easier if I had a Silhouette Die Cutting Machine, but for now I used plain old scissors.

I just stapled all the pieces to a piece of pink satin ribbon and now I LOVE it! I want to put banners all over my house now. Braden wants me to restrain myself.
